'The Rose Has Teeth In The Mouth Of The Beast' is the fifth full studio album from San Franciscan duo Matmos. The album sees Andrew Daniel and Martin Schmidt paying homage to the people that have influenced their organic leftfield sound, from Seventies disco legend Larry Levan through to King Ludwig II of Bavaria. The pair are also joined by a variety of guests including Bjork, avant-garde composer Maja Ratjke and vocalist Antony.|

ビョークのツアー・メンバーとしても知られているマトモスの新作は、ラリー・レヴァンや三島由紀夫といった彼らが敬愛するアーティストに捧げられた楽曲から成るコンセプチュアルな一枚。知的でユーモラスな音世界は、今作において予想外にポップ（あくまで彼らにしては!）なサウンドを構築している。根性焼きの音など常人には理解不能なサンプリングが満載ながら、総じてキュートな印象を受けるんだから不思議!
