A double-disc set of classic soul, funk, R&B, gospel and blues sides assembled by DJ Peter Young, this fun compilation mixes classic tracks together with relatively rare ones and emerges as a groove party in the sun. Among the highlights in a well-paced set are Curtis Mayfield's "Soul Music," Mandrill's smooth and jazzy "It's Too Late," the New Orleans funk of Lee Dorsey's "Yes We Can Can," and a gritty gospel take on "This May Be the Last Time" by the Staples Singers.
