On this 18th volume of John Zorn's FILMWORKS series, the avant-garde composer presents the soundtrack to THE TREATMENT, a quirky romantic comedy by director Oren Rudavsky. As with some of Zorn's other latter-day FILMWORKS installments, the music here is surprisingly delicate and melodic. Though Zorn himself doesn't play on this tango-inflected score, the ensemble is top-notch, with Rob Burger's accordion playing intertwining deftly with Mark Feldman's violin lines, and drummer Kenny Wollesen forsaking his usual instrument of choice for some outstanding vibes work.
