This compilation features tracks from THE BOYS (1977) and ALTERNATIVE CHARTBUSTERS (1978) as well as singles originally released on Nems Records in the late 1970's. Recorded between 1977 & 1980. Take the Boys eponymous first album, snip away six of the tracks, throw the remainder up in the air, sweep them up and plonk them on CD, then do precisely the same with the follow-up, Alternative Chartbusters, and what you have is Sick on You. Presumably, this compilation wants to pass itself off as a best-of set, when in reality it's a belated spoiler, trying to distract fans from the fact that all four of the Boys sets had been reissued in Britain with bonus tracks the previous year. The larger problem lies, however, with the selections. While you do get all the obvious picks -- the title track, "Brickfield Nights," "I Don't Care," et al, you don't get such gems as their frantic cover of "I Call Your Name," their glammy, soulful "Heroine," the exultant "Cast of Thousands," or even the thumping R&B abandon of "Tumble with Me." Which is enough to make any true Boys' fan very sick indeed. ~ Dave Thompson
