Hailing from Manchester, England's musically fertile Moss Side district, Cleopatra is a singing trio of sisters centered around the group's namesake, Cleopatra Higgins, who is the primary author behind COMIN' ATCHA!, their premiere release. Backed by her sisters Zainam and Yonah, Cleopatra's prodigious talent and diverse musical background led to an acapella audition and eventual contract with Madonna's Maverick label. COMIN' ATCHA is a soulful affair, with the three young sisters truly singing as one, from the album's exuberant opener and mission statement, "Cleopatra's Theme" and the tender "A Touch Of Love," straight through to the closer, a captivating updated version of the Jackson 5's classic "I Want you Back." Leader Cleopatra floats atop the album's clever songcraft and slick arrangements with a pure, clear voice, fueled by true emotional commitment and masterful control of her instrument, thrusting herself straight to the fore of R&B's new generation of artists.
