On T.N.T.'s 2004 offering, My Religion, this Norway-by-way-of-California band quit their late-'90s attempt to toughen up their melodic/pop-metal style, and embraced the sound of the big '80s once more. And on their next release, 2005's All the Way to the Sun, singer Tony Harnell and guitarist Ronni Le Tekro are back to their old tricks once more. How T.N.T. didn't challenge such MTV darlings as Winger back in the late '80s remains a mystery, as the group mined the same sonic well, and continue to do so to this day, as evidenced by such vintage pop-metal-sounding tracks as "Too Late," "Me & I," and "Sometimes." Despite it sounding like T.N.T. rediscovered the formula to pen tracks that sounded plucked right out of their late-'80s prime (circa 1987's Tell No Tales), All the Way to the Sun would prove to be Harnell's last studio album with the band, as he would exit after the album's supporting tour (and be replaced by Tony Mills on subsequent releases). ~ Greg Prato
