No brass and fern bar, quiet storm songs here, just pure gold from the likes of Coleman Hawkins, Sonny Rollins, Ben Webster, Lester Young, and Stan Getz. The bounty comes tumbling down from the ultra-deep Verve vaults of '50s and '60s fare and at a bargain price. The mix is no ragged and cheap affair, though, as the selections are all high-quality and feature both the stars (Johnny Hodges) and unsung greats (Herb Geller, Sonny Criss).
