German electronic music artist Uwe Schmidt performs most frequently under the moniker Atom Heart, though on this fanciful compilation of his evolution throughout the 1980s and '90s he gives free rein to multiple musical personalities. Compositions like "Bass Traxx" or "Acid On" are elaborately constructed and dance-oriented, while later works like "An" and "Superdrive" are hypnotic minimalist masterpieces that build slowly and take frequent unexpected sonic detours.|
