Electro-pop from Argentina? Well, everyone has to be from somewhere. And Entre Rios' romantic take on the style works, while automatically standing out with Isol's ethereal Spanish vocals. Nestled somewhere between Styrofoam, Elkland, and Lali Puna, the trio is easy on the ears: Isol's vocals are flexible and gorgeous and Gabriel Lucena's programming is heavenly. Together, it's cute and sweet without being too sappy. With its inviting beats and synth, much of Onda is appropriate for a chillout dance club, though it's still shy enough not to be compared to Ladytron or any other band that's fallen into the "electroclash" league. There are several likable treats here: "Claro Que Si," "Odisea," and "Sobra" are all happy and colorful, like something out of a children's adventure story (which makes sense, considering Isol's background in the subject). As a result, the language barrier is never really an obstacle. ~ Kenyon Hopkin
