Hoods includes: Ben Garcia (vocals): Mike Hood (guitar); Mario Maynor (bass); Jeremy Roberts (drums). Principally recorded at 880 Studios, Oakland, California from March 29 - April 1, 2001. Hoods' album Time...the Destroyer is what one might expect from a band on the prestigious hardcore label, Victory Records. Hoods bear a striking musical resemblance to labelmates Buried Alive, All Out War, and Earth Crisis. Thumping, miry guitar riffs are put together with quick drum rolls and throaty growls, similar to their peers in the hardcore music scene. A lack of creativity and originality showcase a common complaint of hardcore music, while the lyrics tend to be more exploratory than average. Most likely, Time...the Destroyer would be very well liked by fans of the genre, yet non-metalcore fans would do well to find a more appealing artist to better provide familiarity with the sound. ~ Kurt Morris
