30年ぶりのソロ作とはいったい?と思ったら、『Act Like Nothing's Wrong』からのカウントとのこと。びっくりしました。が、驚きはそれだけでなく仕上がり具合も同様に、でありました。60年代の米ロックを豊かにさせた男、そして70年代米ロックを探索する僕らの喜びを膨らませた男、アル・クーパー。タイトルをパッと見て浮かんだのが〈ペギー・リー?〉、ともすると〈ジャズ・カヴァー集?〉って連想したが、熱いR&B魂炸裂のオリジナル満載な内容であった。彼独特のポップ・テイストが加味されたキャッチーで黒いナンバーが並んでおり、『Rare& Welldone』のレア・サイドくらいの充実ぶり。なかでも、ダン・ペンと共にペンを走らせた1曲が一番星的に輝いている。ヴォーカルの説得力も過去最高値で文句なし。10数年前、ジョン・サイモンの復帰作を受け取った時の幸福感がいま甦ってきます。おめでとうさん、アル。

I've been an AL's fan for a long time, and I'm happy to know that he is still actively involved with music. I love this CD. His voice changed, but it improved with age, just like good wine. I highly recommend this CD.
