Metro's 2005 release Live in Concert captures a Billy Connolly concert from the early '70s, when he was still making his way as a singer but not yet had gained fame for his comedy. As such, it may not be essential for some listeners, but for serious fans this is a lot of fun because it gives a glimpse of Connolly at the beginning of his career, and before he polished his act. His show may be a little rough, but it's still strong, and his material, while occasionally dated, can still cause chuckles a quarter century after its recording. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
