The solo debut from singer/songwriter/producer N'Dea Davenport is a collection of funky and melodic, yet diverse creations that showcase her brilliant vocal stylings. The first single, "Bring it On," produced by Dallas Austin, is a soulful grind where N'Dea's sultry vocal performance instantly captures your attention. Besides three additional songs produced by Austin, Davenport produced the entire album as well as co-writing all thirteen songs.
Identifying Davenport by a certain genre is limiting. She is not only a member of the neo-soul movement, she basically pioneered it. After fronting four albums for The Brand New Heavies and a JAZZMATAZZ album with Rap vet Guru, Davenport is more than able to make the jump to solo artist. Her self-titled debut doesn't stay in one place long. She runs the gamut from dance ("No Never Again") to swing ("Getaway,") ultimately winning you over with her enticing vocals. Make sure you check out the beautiful ballads like "Real Life" and "Placement For the Baby." The pop sound of "Underneath a Red Moon" and the blues textures of "Save You Love For Me" show Davenport's range as an artist and songwriter.

商品の紹介

Entertainment Weekly - "...On her first solo album, she again rises above ho-hum material with her forceful, full-bodied singing. There are a fair share of buoyant melodies in the neoclassical funk vein, but Davenport's cliched lyrics are a bummer. Fortunately, she knows how to breathe new life into the most shopworn line." - Rating: B The Source - "...N'Dea Davenport's self-titled debut is both imaginative and memorable....her musical explorations of genres as wide-ranging as blues and funk..." Rap Pages - 4 (out of 5) - "...N'Dea's is a welcome voice within a genre sorely in need of a transfusion of artistry and inventiveness..."
