The words of a teenage rebel, set to the most aggressive mod music this side of "My Generation"--except that, by the time San Francisco's Flamin' Groovies released the unrepentantly revivalist SHAKE SOME ACTION, their average age was 30. Moreover, they were not rebelling against the older generation, but their own peers. Fortunately, their cries did not go unheard. Although SHAKE SOME ACTION was not a mainstream hit, it was lauded by the press and became a huge influence on the punk and power-pop movements on both sides of the Atlantic.
