Folk music always played a part in Wishbone Ash's unique style, along with metal and Yes-style riffs, but long time fans were nonetheless taken aback by this album. It's Wishbone Ash unplugged, with nary an electric guitar on hand until the closing "Everybody Needs a Friend," to which founding member Andy Powell contributes some dazzling solos.
The songs mostly have a strong Celtic flavor, with the exception of an occasional blues based tune like "Love Abuse," which features fetching background vocals by undervalued British singer/songwriter Claire Hamill. Some of the songs here, such as "Wings of Desire" and "Errors of My Way," date back to the band's original early '70s incarnation.
