eduction is easily the most well-known release for James Last in America, as it features his most well-known hit, a version of Giorgio Moroder's "The Seduction (Love Theme)." Interest in the album was piqued again when it was sampled by P. Diddy for his Saga Continues record's opening track, "Where's Puffy?" The main interest lies in Last's treatment of the two Moroder tracks found herein, especially as "The Seduction" would later be used in Blondie's chart-topping "Call Me." Last assembled the musicians from this record from a pool of top session musicians in Los Angeles and New York, and their performances are top-notch, extremely commercial, and radio-friendly. It's his most accessible record from this particular era, and few albums he released after this would rival it in both sonic and tonal quality. ~ Rob Theakston|
