Alberta Hunter has a voice capable of standing alongside all of the blues greats. One of the first female practitioners of the art, Alberta began her career at the beginning of the 20th century, then floored her fans by taking a 20 year break from the business to become a nurse. However, her talent lead her back to the stage eventually, and she is captured performing here in 1982, just two years before her passing. A welcome addition to the JAZZ MASTERS series, this release perfectly illustrates how talent never fades away.|
