Faith (Brilliant Box)｜CDアルバム

The Cureの81年の3rdアルバムの2CD版でDISC2にはデモ音源などを収録。オリジナルアルバム自体がモノトーングレイなジャケも相まって地味に捉えられがちだが、アッパーな名曲「Primary」や、澄み切った真冬の森の中でゴリゴリとベース音が鳴り響くような壮大ナンバー「Other Voices」など実は注目度の高い作品。初期好きはマスト作です。

前作で基盤を固めトリオで製作された3rd。行き場の無い『死』への感情が作風になっており、以降も発揮される独自のダークネスやゴス・ロックの要素、モノクローム感醸し出すベースラインが展開されるけど、これが『陰』だけでなく時に神々しく聴こえてくるから凄い。
