This should satisfy those who miss the machine-like smoothness of late Basie. (Nestico composed and arranged for the Count Basie Orchestra from 1970-1984.) While there is an antiseptic quality to some of the cuts, no one can quibble with the signature Nestico harmonies or the quality of the jazz solos. The big juicy sound, toe-tapping rhythms, and perfect resolutions all there. But, just who is that unidentified wicked trombonist on "The Blues Machine"? ~ Steven A. Loewy
