Mr. Womack has been around forever, and even with his personal ups and downs (and he has had a few) he manages to survive. It's hard to think that this was the man who first recorded 'It's All Over Now' with the Valentinos in the early 60s, and word was spread by the Rolling Stones, who had a massive hit with it. He worked as a solo artist in the 70s and also with Linda Womack, as Womack And Womack. During the early 80s he hit a particularly fine seam of gold, and this was his most successful album. Falling somewhere between funk and Marvin Gaye sweet soul THE POET is a highly polished album.|

ソウル不毛の80年代初頭（世はディスコブーム）にここまでイナタくかつ美しい咆哮があったとは・・。とくに後半のスロウ3曲は奪われます。魂を。日本盤出るの遅いぞ！
