A Perfect Circle (Tool): Tim "Herb" Alexander , Danny Lohner, James Iha, Josh Freese, Maynard James Keenan, Paz Lenchantin, Troy Van Leeuwen, Billy Howerdel , Jeordie White. Released a mere two weeks after A Perfect Circle's third full-length album, EMOTIVE, the DVD/CD release AMOTION collects the band's videos and presents nine tracks of remixed songs from MER DE NOMS and THIRTEENTH STEP. The "Renholder" mix of "Judith" begins with Maynard James Keenan's emotive vocals backed only by strings and machine-gun-like distortion, eventually adding beats that grow increasingly prominent. Band member (and former Smashing Pumpkin) James Iha has a hand in the "Bird Shake" mix of "Blue," which is drenched in keyboards and electronics, rather than the heavy guitars and bass of the original song. Massive Attack's "All Main Courses" mix of "3 Libras" proves to be the highlight, however; the group's dark, brooding, dub-influenced style melds well with APC's melancholy aesthetic, making for a mesmerizing dose of atmospherics. (Note: The DVD features nine APC videos, along with other bonus features.)
