商品の紹介
Rolling Stone (p.160) - 3 stars out of 5 - "As always, Leo is an immediate vocal presence, with hints of Elvis Costello in his howls that turn into precise yodels." Spin (p.65) - Ranked #20 in Spin's "40 Best Albums of the Year" - "Leo stays on message and lets his D.C. hardcore roots show through..." Entertainment Weekly (p.80) - "Practically every song is a near-perfect amalgam of straight-up melodies and pogoing beats." - Grade: A Uncut (p.105) - 3 stars out of 5 - "Leo writes from a bittersweet rather than sour angle as he examines the USA in turmoil....Plenty to reflect on..." Alternative Press (p.84) - 4 stars out of 5 - "[A]rguably the best record of Leo's career...[with] two of the best songs he's ever written..." Magnet (p.103) - "Because he believes it, we believe it, making SHAKE THE SHEETS as rousing and uplifting a record as possible in a time of war." CMJ (p.4) - "[A]n apt sequel to last year's exceptional HEARTS OF OAK, sporting his familiar Elvis-Costello-meets-the-jam-pomp."

Ted Leo/Ted Leo & the Pharmacists: Ted Leo; Chris Wilson (drums); David Lerner . Personnel: Ted Leo (vocals, guitar, percussion); Chris Shaw (vocals, piano, glockenspiel); David Lerner (vocals, bass guitar); Eric Tew, Sarah Field (vocals); Chris "Poet" Wilson (drums). Additional personnel: Chris Shaw , Sarah Field. Audio Mixers: Chris Shaw ; Ted Leo. Recording information: Avatar Studios, New York, NY (05/17/2004-06/04/2004); Stratosphere Studios, New York, NY (05/17/2004-06/04/2004). Editor: Eric Tew. Photographer: Pamela H. Leahigh. Given the rash of cookie-cutter pop/punk/emo groups in the early 2000's, Ted Leo's impressive songwriting, literate lyrics, and credibly passionate punk come as a very welcome relief. In fact, likening Leo to an amped-up Elvis Costello is not a stretch--he makes smartly constructed, emotionally honest songs, yet delivers them with an exciting, guitar-heavy, in-your-face attack. SHAKE THE SHEETS is further proof of Leo's skills, and includes one of his best batches of songs to date. The lead-off cut, "Me and Mia," which marries pop smarts to anthemic rock, and the hooky, New Wave-inflected "Little Dawn" are only two shining examples of Leo's craft. Leo and the Pharmacists are especially appealing in their bundle of delicious contradictions. While they often play with the muscle of a hardcore outfit, they radiate the unadulterated sunshine of power pop. They mix furious abandon with change-up subtlety ("The Angel's Share"), emo confessionalism with melodies that dwarf most emo songs ("Heart Problems"), and use occasionally progressive structures (note the rhythmic stutter of the verses to "Better Dead Than Lead") while keeping everything firmly within a traditional rock vocabulary. SHAKE THE SHEETS should confirm the notion that Leo is one of the most consistently powerful songwriters and performers in the rock underground.
