After a hiatus of almost 30 years, in 2004 '60s legends Sky Saxon & The Seeds released RED PLANET. The album features 11 tracks of old-style rock, including "Colorized Bottles," "Sweet Fragrant Melodies," and "Judge With A Bomb." Contrary to popular belief, Sky Saxon, who led the Seeds to garage-rock glory with "Pushin' Too Hard" in the 1960s, did not disappear when Nehru jackets and paisley shirts went out of style. The evidence is here on RED PLANET, where Saxon and the Seeds trot out their fuzzy guitar licks and gloriously trashy organ riffs with no hint of weariness some four decades after they made their original psychedelic forays. It all goes to show that old rockers need to neither burn out or fade away.
