Personnel: Alex Riel (drums); Harry "Sweets" Edison (trumpet); Roger Kellaway (piano); Mads Vinding (bass). Recorded at Sun Studio, Copenhagen, Denmark on March 3, 1998. Includes liner notes by Alex Riel. Personnel: Harry "Sweets" Edison (trumpet); Mads Vinding (string synthesizer); Alex Riel (drums). Audio Mixer: Alex Riel. Recording information: Sun Studio, CPH (03/03/1998). Photographer: Jan Persson. Drummer Alex Riel grew up in Denmark and enjoyed going to see movies at the D.S.B. Kino that featured Frank Sinatra singing in front of a big band. So he was delighted when he was able to arrange a session playing standards Sinatra sang, with trumpeter Harry "Sweets" Edison (who worked with the singer on a number of occasions) as a special guest, along with pianist Roger Kellaway and bassist Mads Vinding. Though near the end of his career, Edison remains a distinctive soloist and seems especially energetic as he revisits six standards he had played countless times over the decades. Edison's mute work in an extended "Lover Man" and his sassy playing in "Ain't Misbehavin" are highlights. Kellaway is in his usual top form at the piano, while Vinding and Riel provide a solid foundation. ~ Ken Dryden
