Drawn from such diverse lands as Tuva, Tibet, Japan, India, China and Thailand, this single-disc compilation, Holding up Half the Sky: Voices of Asian Women, offers a lovely glimpse at the common spiritual thread that runs through the wonderful female voices of these countries. While many tracks have a distinctly pop bent they still retain links to the folk music of the various lands, mixing synthesizers with more traditional instrumentation.
