Burt Bacharach's soundtrack for the 1965 Woody Allen-scripted film What's New, Pussycat?--apparently titled after Warren Beatty's favorite pick-up line--was the first of his scores to attract wide critical attention. Besides the three hit singles it spawned, the Tom Jones-sung title track, Dionne Warwick's "Here I Am" and Manfred Mann's version of "My Little Red Book," later a hit for the L.A. psychedelic group Love, WHAT'S NEW, PUSSYCAT? contains some of Bacharach's best instrumentals, including the Parisian "Chateau Chantel" and the brilliantly-titled "Stripping Isn't Really Sexy, Is It?" WHAT'S NEW, PUSSYCAT? is a classic American soundtrack of its era, and one of the records that defines mid-'60s swinging Hollywood.
録音 : ステレオ (Studio)
