By the '80s, Yoko Ono's music had neither the playful anarchy of her '60s performance art or the seething anger of her '70s albums. 1985's STARPEACE represents Ono's rapprochement with the pop music mainstream. Legend has it that hearing The B-52s' "Rock Lobster"-in which Kate Pierson and Cindy Williams mimicked Ono's early vocal style-inspired Ono and John Lennon to record 1980's DOUBLE FANTASY. Indeed, after new wave and post-punk, Ono's music no longer seemed quite as weird. Despite an opening song called "Hell In Paradise," most of STARPEACE consists of such relentlessly positive, sweet, catchy, and melodic synth-based songs as the mystical title track, "I Love All Of Me," and "Children Power." The Japanese edition of this CD contains a bonus track.
録音 : ステレオ (Studio)
