Not strictly either a hits or a rarities collection, Metro's 2003 compilation Fog on the Tyne: Classic & Live is a hodgepodge of live Lindisfarne cuts, album tracks and singles. Although this has a cut as late as 1989 ("Any Way the Wind Blows"), most of this dates from 1978 to 1982, which might not conventionally be seen as the group's peak, but this does show them to be in fine fettle. Still, it's unclear who this disc is for: it's not an introduction to the band, yet it isn't quite a full rarities set, either. So, it's for the fan who has a lot but still needs everything -- and they're likely to be entertained by this solid set. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
