Maverick the movie mixes an old-fashioned Western setting with some modern-day comedy and action, and even a little sexual tension and romance. Stars in this film are Mel Gibson, Jodie Foster, and James Garner. It seemed only appropriate that during the making of it another big-name artist, Randy Newman, be called in to handle the musical score, along with Frank Wolf as producer. It was orchestrated by Don Davis and Jack Hayes. This country-styled musical score carries tracks that travel smoothly from dark and melancholy to energetic and humorous. Many Newman fans might find this album a little different than his normal offerings, but still worth a listen or two.
