THE MIX TAPE VOLUME III: THE FINAL CHAPTER is a continuous, in-the-mix recording by Funkmaster Flex featuring pre-recorded tracks and MCs freestyling over instrumental tracks.
The king of New York hip-hop radio, Funk Master Flex serves up the latest edition of his well-known mix tape collections. With over 70 minutes of non-stop hip-hop tracks, Flex MC's with freestyles by some of hip-hop's hottest artists over instrumental tracks. For those unfamiliar with mix tape styles, it's cool to hear Cam'ron and Charlie Baltimore flowing over Raekwon's "Incarcerated Scarfaces" track. It's impossible to list all the guest stars, so suffice it to say that Flex brings out the talent for his latest release.
Check out the Canibus freestyle over Raekwon's "Ice Cream", Keith Murray's verse over "Lump Lump" by Sadat X and DMX's killer flow over Mobb Deep's "Give Up the Goods". Flex mixes current MCs with some old school flavour by throwing in well-placed freestyle rhymes from Busy Bee and King Sun. Bits and pieces of tracks from Jr. Mafia ("Get Money"), Jay-Z ("Ain't No Nigga") and Foxy Brown ("10% Dis") round out the short freestyle selection of tracks. Other groups and MCs representing are EPMD, KRS-One, Gang Starr, Missy Elliot, Flip Mode Squad and many others.|
