世界初の文学アルバムというコンセプトにより、1971年に発表された『メロディ・ネルソンの物語』。サラヴァ・レーベルのジャン・クロード・ヴァニエールがアレンジを施し、ファンキー・ロック・テイストな新しいサウンドを生み出した。 ジャケットは勿論、ジェーン・バーキンがヴォーカルでも参加。退廃的でエロティックなゲンスブールのファンタジーが溢れる、ジャケ、内容共に人気のアルバム。
