Personnel: Idil Biret (piano). Editor: Lars Johnasson. This collection presents classical pieces culled by Naxos from previously-released soundtracks to such films as Someone to Watch Over Me, L.A. Confidential, and The Untouchables. There isn't much else to link this music to the films represented here; for example, Rossini's "Overture to the Barber of Seville" did appear in Prizzi's Honor, but isn't principally known for its role in the Jack Nicholson comedy caper. Like most of the installments in the Classics at the Movies series, Thrillers works better as a set of well-appointed classical pieces by composers such as Delibes, Puccini, Verdi, and Mozart. ~ Johnny Loftus
