The legend of highly prolific D.I.Y.-ers Dead Moon was built in part on the husband-and-wife band's integrity, spirit, and raw rock-&-roll sound. But perhaps more than any other factor, it was Dead Moon's live shows that made them some of rock's most beloved foot soldiers. Like a genuinely blue collar version of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Dead Moon were known for their epic, no-holds-barred sets, which were meticulously clocked by placing a candle on top of an upturned Jack Daniels bottle, and letting it rip until the candle was completely melted. HARD WIRED IN LJUBLJANA captures the band in their element playing for an adoring Eastern European crowd (post-Communist Bohemia and the Balkans being one of the band's unlikely strongholds). Fred and Toody Cole, with Andrew Loomis on the skins, tear through 20 gems with as much grit and intensity as any band can muster. And while it's far from a polished effort, the set is quintessentially Dead Moon.
