Backed by the Time, Day performed shows that became the stuff of legend, as he strutted about the stage, asked for his mirror mid-song, and became distracted by his own beauty. Day's 2004 solo album, IT'S ABOUT TIME, presents the essence of the man, with two-thirds of the disc recorded in a concert setting. The live portion of IT'S ABOUT TIME features exuberant performances of classics such as "Jungle Love" and "The Bird," as well as Day's own hits, including the unforgettable "Fishnet." The vitality Day radiates on stage pours out during these concert tracks. The studio songs are timeless, combining the smooth funk of the early 1980s with a contemporary urban sound. This style is particularly effective on the potent "In My Ride," featuring a relaxed cameo from rapper E-40.
