Inarguably, industrial music has had a significant setback since its heyday in the late '80s, thanks in no small part to nameless bands rehashing the formula and a slew of budget-line compilations diluting the waters and making it harder for listeners to separate the wheat from the chaff. But EBMers and industrial fans can rest assured that the antacid they've been looking for is here. Known largely for his harder-edged techno on Force Tracks and International Deejay Gigolos, Terence Fixmer does a quite natural collaboration with Nitzer Ebb's Douglas McCarthy. Both Fixmer and Ebb fans will have no problem immersing themselves in Between the Devil's 12 brutal exercises in reinventing the industrial music wheel. It's extremely raw, repetitive, and most likely the sound of Ebb had they kept moving things forward from the '90s into the next decade. ~ Rob Theakston
