Mafia & Fluxy (brothers Leroy & David Heywood) are a solid U.K. reggae rhythm section and production team, and after starting their own label, the pair released a series of Reggae Heights albums that featured well-known Jamaican vocalists singing classic songs over new rhythms provided by the two brothers. This set finds veteran singer John Holt out front and center. Holt is a sort of a Jamaican Barry White, best known for his smooth, easy listening love ballads, and so it should come as no surprise that what he's doing here is right in that pocket, with Mafia & Fluxy providing light, breezy summery soundscapes behind him. The album concludes with six instrumental organ tracks that are kind of interesting, but it's Holt's graceful singing that really makes this set go. ~ Steve Leggett
