ベートーヴェンの友人、カルテッリエリの貴重なオラトリオ
カルテッリエリ（1772-1807）はグダニスクに生まれ、サリエリやアルブレヒツベルガーに作曲を学びました。彼の友人でもあったベートーヴェンよりも当時有名だった彼のオラトリオ「ユダヤの王ジョアス」は、イタリアの情熱を取り入れた画期的な作品。復讐アリア、狂気のシーン、熱心な祈りなどが取り入れられ、絶賛を浴びました。この曲の初演日には、ベートーヴェンもヴィオラ奏者として参加しています。彼の重要なこの作品を、現在デトモルト音楽大学の教授のゲアノート・シュマルフスがイタリアの図書館にて自ら発見し、校訂し演奏録音したのが当盤。
