Beginning with the songs from VIOLATOR that didn't fit onto the fourth SINGLES BOX, this fifth volume spans Depeche Mode's singles from late 1990 to 1993. This era marks a distinct shift for the band, most obvious in their embrace of guitar-based songs and frontman Dave Gahan's scruffy appearance, both notable on the '93 release SONGS OF FAITH & DEVOTION. "Policy of Truth, " "World in My Eyes," "I Feel You," and "Walking in My Shoes" are a few of the key Depeche Mode tracks presented here in numerous incarnations. Standout B-sides from this era include the industrial "Kaleid," the chiming "Happiest Girl" (remixed, on two versions, by the Orb's Alex Patterson), two Brian Eno remixes of "I Feel You," and the sultry "My Joy," rounding out another exhaustively thorough DM collection.
