オレフスキー第3集 - ヴィヴァルディ｜CDアルバム
アントニオ・ヴィヴァルディの《和声と創意の試み》全曲をドイツはベルリン出身のユリアン・オレフスキーのヴァイオリン独奏で聴くアルバム。1954年頃の録音で、伴奏はヘルマン・シェルヘンの指揮によるウィーン国立歌劇場管弦楽団(実態はウィーン在住の音楽家を集めた混成メンバー)の弦楽合奏。オレフスキーは1926年にベルリンで生まれたヴァイオリニスト。10歳でアルゼンチンに移住し、当地でアレクサンドル・ペチュニコフの薫陶を受けた。1947年にアメリカに演奏旅行に出て以降はアメリカを本拠とし、1951年にアメリカ市民権を獲得しており、ドイツのヴァイオリニストとして紹介するのには違和感を残す。ウェストミンスター・レーベルに少なからぬ数の録音を残したが、本家レーベルの復刻では、この《和声と創意の試み》から〈四季〉の部分が切り取られて復刻された程度に留まる。このDoremiレーベルが積極的に彼の録音を復刻してくれたことで、オレフスキーの録音へのアクセスが容易になった。技巧的に堅実で、解釈面でも奇を衒わぬながら芯の通った良い演奏をする。指揮をするシェルヘンも、オレフスキーと同じベルリン出身の人だが、オレフスキーよりも35歳くらい年上だ。自分の後輩世代の作曲家の作品を精力的に紹介し、電子音楽にも親しむ進取の気質の持ち主という印象が強いが、余り演奏されない古の作品の発掘と紹介にも積極的に取り組む音楽学者的なところもあった。ここに聴くヴィヴァルディ作品の録音は、そんなシェルヘンの音楽学者的な興味を感じさせる演奏である。無論、その演奏様式は、例えばファビオ・ビオンディ等の演奏と比べると、随分と厳めしい。しかし、通奏低音に曲がりなりにもチェンバロを使っている点は、1950年代の演奏としては見識のある方か。ただ、勝手気ままに弾きそうな団員達を監視するかのようなシェルヘンの縦割りのテンポの取り方は、ヴィヴァルディの音楽に流麗さを求める向きには抵抗があろう。オレフスキーの独奏は、フレキシブルでスマートな美しさを志向しているのだが、ゴツゴツしたシェルヘンの伴奏の所作に引きずられており、お世辞にも主導権がオレフスキーにあるとは言えない。私自身は、この演奏を面白いと思うが、説明調のシェルヘンのアプローチに疲れるという人もいるのではないか。万人には薦め難い。
