The double-disc set The Mercury Years is a comprehensive overview of Spirit's late-'70s recordings for Mercury Records, containing nearly all of their 1975 album Spirit of '76, plus highlights from Farther Along (1976), Son of Spirit (1976) and Future Games (1977). Though this music isn't among the band's best, it's occasionally intriguing, and for dedicated fans of Spirit's '60s albums, this compilation is the best way to appreciate their late '70s work. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
