Bruce Almighty

A largely predictable soundtrack, Bruce Almighty takes the movie's "what if an everyday guy was God" plot and runs with it, collecting God and miracle-themed pop songs. Some of them are clever, such as Mick Jagger's "God Gave Me Everything" and Wang Chung's "Praying to a New God," while others are a little predictable, like Snap's "The Power," which already sounded stale in the trailers and television commercials for the film. Elvis Presley's "A Little Less Conversation" and Fatboy Slim's "The Rockafeller Skank" don't follow the motif of the rest of the soundtrack as closely, and that may have something to do with why they're two of the more enjoyable songs on the album. Patti LaBelle's "Ready for a Miracle" and Barry White's "Never Never Gonna Give You Up" are two of the other highlights of this unremarkable but pleasant-enough collection; considering its uninspired selections and relatively short, ten-song track listing, only die-hard fans of the movie truly need Bruce Almighty. ~ Heather Phares|

『ブルース・オールマイティ』(2003)サウンドトラック 音楽（スコア）　ジョン・デブニー 監督　トム・シャドヤック 主演　ジム・キャリー、ジェニファー・アニストン ヴァリース・サラバンド・レーベルのサントラとしては珍しい、 前半がポップス・オムニバス的内容、後半がスコアのサントラ。 ジョーン・オズボーン「ワン・オブ・アス」、エルビスの、あの 「おしゃべりはやめて」のリミックス（ナイキのＣＭで使われていた あの曲）、ファットボーイ・スリムのナンバーなど、ポップス・ファン にはおなじみのナンバーと、 スコアは、ジョン・デブニー。主演ジム・キャリーならではの 荒唐無稽な設定でのハートウォーミング・コメディの、その 温かい部分をデブニー・サウンドが聴かせます。 デブニーのハートウォームものといえば、『ポーリー』ですが、 あれに匹敵する傑作。 (C)馬場敏裕
