Like fellow teen rapper Lil' Bow Wow, Zane has achieved the hip-hop equivalent of a bar mitzvah by dropping the Lil' moniker from his handle as he shifts gears into the next phase of his musical career with THE BIG ZANE THEORY. Helping out with the heavy lifting are urban crooner Tank on the sweet and smooth "Tonite, I'm Yours," Roscoe and Tristar on the funked-up party anthem "How We Ride," and Envyi, whose female harmonies sweeten up "Do It, Don't Stop" and "Come Runnin'." Keeping with the Dirty South rep, Zane also takes a ride down to the lascivious side of town by way of the silly skit "In the Strip Club" and the follow-up song "Shake It," whose jittery beats and tight production bring to mind Mystikal. Also putting in a cameo is Timbaland, whose distinctive production style gives "Bounce" a thick groove that makes it one of Zane's more distinctive songs. If THE BIG ZANE THEORY involves getting hip-hop heads to take this young rapper seriously, then it's safe to say that his mission has been accomplished.
