While the bulk of the music employs ominous synthesizers and thunderous bursts of brass, Cmiral creates his beautiful main theme on the Armenian duduk, an unusual but effective choice that immediately establishes Ronin's unique place within the modern thriller canon. 『RONIN』(1998)のサウンドトラック。音楽　エリア・クミラル、監督　ジョン・フランケンハイマー、主演　ロバート・デ・ニーロ、ジャン・レノ。フランケンハイマーによる、男のロマン漂いまくりのスパイものに、チェコの人気作曲家クミラルが大抜擢。哀愁漂うエスニックなメロディと乾いたオーケストラがクールなコントラスト。この乾いた、枯れた感じのクールさがこのサントラの魅力。聴き応えとしては、70年代ジェリー・フィールディングのサントラのハードボイルドさにも通ずるところがある。 静かにキメる男のサントラ。 (C)馬場敏裕
