英コメディ･グループ「モンティ・パイソン」のテリー・ジョーンズさんが逝去。享年77歳

イギリスのコメディ･グループ「モンティ・パイソン」のテリー・ジョーンズさんが、亡くなったことが明らかになった。享年77歳。

「モンティ・パイソン」は、1969年に始まったコメディ番組「空飛ぶモンティ・パイソン」で世界的人気を博し、日本でも吹替版が放送された。なお、2014年には逝去したグレアム・チャップマン以外の5人で約30年ぶりとなる再結成公演が行われた。

またテリー・ジョーンズさんは、グループの活動以外にも複数のドキュメンタリー番組の司会進行や、歴史学者としての研究、童話集などの執筆、David Bowieが主演を務めたファンタジー映画『ラビリンス 魔王の迷宮』の脚本を手掛けるなど多くの分野で活躍していた。

今回の訃報を受けて、SNSでは「モンティ・パイソン」メンバーほか、関係者がコメントを発表している。

Of his many achievements, for me the greatest gift he gave us all was his direction of 'Life of Brian'. Perfection

I loved him the moment I saw him on stage at the Edinburgh Festival in 1963. So many laughs,moments of total hilarity onstage and off we have all shared with him. It’s too sad if you knew him,but if you didn’t you will always smile at the many wonderfully funny moments he gave us
