Resonance Records（レゾナンス・レコード）からベスト盤シリーズ4タイトルが発売

現代においてもっとも注目を集めるジャズ・レーベルの一つ〈Resonance Records〉が、Bill Evans（ビル・エヴァンス）、Wes Montgomery（ウェス・モンゴメリー）、ヴォーカル編、ピアノ編の4つのテーマからなるベスト盤をリリース。

アートワークは、“Way Out West”を主宰し、NYのジャズ・ギャラリーでも個展を開いた大阪在住のイラストレーター、藤岡宇央氏によるもの。各作品の統一されたアートワークも魅力です。

Resonance Recordsが発掘/ 作品化した究極のビル・エヴァンス音源4作『( Live at Top of The Gate』『Some Other Time』『Another Time: The Hilversum Concert』『Evans in England』)から各タイトル3曲ずつをセレクトして12曲を収めたベスト盤。

エヴァンス、ゴメス、ディジョネットでの68年のトリオによる『Some Other Time』『Another Time: The Hilversum Concert』は、ジャズ史上に名高いモントルー・ジャズ・フェスティヴァル直後の超幻の音源。この3人によるトリオ演奏は、モントルーのみといわれていたもので、エヴァンス史、ひいてはジャズ史をも書き換えることに！マーティ・モレルを迎えたトリオはエヴァンス第二期トリオと呼ばれるもので、68年、69年の『Live at Top of The Gate』『Evans in England』の演奏は、トリオの最初期をとらえたこちらも貴重音源！

ジャズ・ギターのパイオニアであり、後世に多大なる影響を与えた巨人ウェス・モンゴメリーのコンピレーション。『Echoes of Indiana Avenue』『In the Beginning』『One Night In Indy』『Smokin' in Seattle』『Back on Indiana Avenue』といった、Resonanceの5作品からのセレクト。ウェス・モンゴメリーの最初期音源や、デビュー直前の音源には、ウェスのルーツが確実にあり、かつ、デビュー後の特徴となる奏法も聴かせてくれる貴重音源。

また、『Smokin' in Seattle』は、絶頂期の録音として人気を誇る『スモーキン・アット・ハーフ・ノート』の7ヶ月後の演奏で、オリジナル・リリースの際には、パット・メセニーも絶賛のコメントをよせています。
